I just bought DPMS's new 308 Panther... their version of the AR10.
I broke the barrel in with some Sellier/Bellot and then sighted it in using some Winchester Nosler Ballistic Tips for deer hunting...
This last weekend, I went to visit a friend and shot some of his surplus Venezuelan 308 ammo through it... that South American crap wouldnt feed or extract?
So, for those of you with the new DPMS 308.... have you found any successful surplus ammo to shoot through it? Any unsuccessful surplus ammo?
AFWIW, I'm using a Knight's Armament Company 20 round steel mag that functions and fits flawlessly.

Mark:
I do not own a 308 Panther, but I believe that I would try the "old standbys" -- Portugese and South African -- and I would fast order me some of the Australian F4 Ball from Dan's. The Aussie stuff is FINE in my Steyr import 50.00, SAR48, and preban T48 clone. Don't wait because it flies off the pallets in his warehouse and out the doors. Damndest thing I ever saw . . . Hardhat protection required, definitely . . .

Thanks Noah,
Do you have a link for Dan's?
I figured I'd order a case... IF I had any problems, I'm sure I can sell it easy enough to others here?

I think I found it....
Are talking about: http://www.dansammo.com ?
He's got 200 round Aussie 308 on stripper clips in the can for $36 bucks! 4 Cans come to $144 bucks! Ammoman.com has the same deal for $179... but ammoman has free shipping, I'd be curious to see what shipping costs are from Dan?
But then again, ammoman simply gives you a wood crate with the ammo in cardboard boxes in blister packs... no ammo can?

Dan now has 160rd cardboard boxes of blister packed ammo with 90 headstamps, packed 5 to a 60lb wooden crate.
1990 is about the freshest milsurp out there; I would not delay.
Shipping would depend on where you live. Call Dan for a quote.

Thanks Again Noah,
I just got my 200 round can in today :) This stuff looks primo, very nice shiny looking brass... Havent shot any, but just hand cycled a few rounds, I dont seem to have any feeding problems so I'm sure it will fire okay.
BTW, I called DPMS and they told me that when they were devloping their 308 rifle, they used Australian ADI ammo... they said it works well, the only prob they had was that it was a little dirty to shoot.
