Check these targets out! A couple weeks ago I was shooting my centerfires at 100 yards, and just for gigles decided to see what the old 1940-dated Winchester 75T would do at that distance. With the Weaver (El Paso) 6X steel-tube scope, I normally shoot it at 50 yards, and at 25 0r 50 with the Lyman 57 peep sight.
I had just recently gotten a box of the Winchester Dynapoint .22LR that Wally World is finally stocking.
I shot several under-one-inch groups once the scope was dialed in. I'm using a plastic clamp-vise type of rest to minimize my body movements messing it up.
I finally shot these two groups for the best of the day. Each has four rounds in very tight, but a wild flyer on the fifth - maybe I'm getting nervous and jerking or something?
The first groups is about 5/8 inch for the four shots. The second group is a shade less than a half inch.
Next step is maybe to weigh and rim-check the ammo - maybe I can cull out the darned flyers. Still, I was shocked and pleased with what the old Winny could do.

The two on the bottom are the best to date. Both were 5 shot groups at 50 yards. Rifle is a CZ 452 SE. Scope: Bushnell Trophy 4-12x40 AO. Ammo: PMC Scoremaster. I have the groups listed as .22" and .37" but after reading some information on measuring group size, I have amended that to .25" and .40" respectively. Groups are measured outside to outside and then have .19 subtracted for bullet diameter (instead of .22). The rifle is stock except for a Brookie trigger kit. Measured pull is 11 ounces. I hope to do better
:D

Oops I forgot. The targets are paper @ssholes painted black that are stuck on the back of business cards. O.D. is 9/16", I.D. is 1/4".

One of my two best rimfires accuracy-wise is my Winchester 75T, a 1939-dated ezample. A calm day, the rifle clamped in a cheapo rest from Wallyworld, with an old steel-tube Weaver (El Paso) 6X scope, and using Winchester Dynapoint ammo. Very 'not bad'!
One target has the holes, center to center, just over a half-inch. The other is just under a half inch.

She might do a bit better with 'good' ammo. :rockin:

Nice shootin' with the old iron!

I can't wait till it warms up around here to get out to the range myself.

Those Dynapoints seem to have a decent reputation. Now if I can find a cheap local source for them....
I may just go to the range even if it's cold.

I have a tricked out 10/22 and the last time myself and friend went out to the range we both had 5rd groups smaller than a dime. That was the best i had ever shot with it.Of course to my advantage there was no wind what so ever and the temp was about perfect. In AZ you never know what your going to get once you get out to the range its in the middle of the dessert. And off topic does anyone know were to get a 50rd drum for a 10/22.

MWG drums are still available, but run $75 or more. Search for MWG and 10/22 together.
RamLines are available from everyone-natchez shooters supply and midway have good prices. Sportsmans Guide and Cabelas may also have them.

Hey guys, Im new to TGN and just getting started on the whole forum thing. Real quick question on .22 ammo. I saw pics of a GSG5 that had 1000 rounds fired though it and the end of the barrel melted......that doesnt seem right....was it the ammo or just poor metallurgy???
