January 5 - US forces raided offices of the two main Kurdish fractions in northern Iraq on Sunday, seizing weapons and documents and taking one senior official into custody.
The offices of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Kirkuk were raided and large quantities of weapons were seized. Sergeant Robert Cargie from the 4th Division said that AK-47 automatic rifles equipped to launch grenades were among the weapons seized.
