My uncle was in the Lucasville OH riot and hostage situation. He later got struck by lightning while working a booth INSIDE THE PRISON and is now on disability!

There might be more of you but they just haven't made it to this forum. We should get more folks over here to post experiences, insights, safety info etc.
My hats off to Corrections Officers....sometimes I think street work or "white shirt" work is easier than what CO's do.

COs have it hard, and are face to face with the BS, while standard LEs see it occasionally on shift...
Just my personal observation. ;)

Currently serving 12 life sentences here. With a good chance I'll get paroled.
Word on the street is I got my CO job,and out of all the folks who knew about it I was the last to know. Makes me feel good to be #1
I've dealt with some militarized inmates before. Most were sorry sacks of shit.
Took someone to put them into a nice steel cage to make them see that shoplifting or writing bad checks and selling drugs was wrong:D

Stumbled on this thread by accident and glad I did. I am retired Corrections, 25 yrs, retired as a Capt. my last 8 yrs. My wife is in corrections, currently a Sgt. she has a ways to go before retirement.
Corrections is a unique experence to say the least. I have a brother who is a State Trooper in another state and hates to go inside a prison, no weapons allowed, but I felt safer inside then on some dark streets at night in a less than desirable area.
Seems that we don't get the respect or understanding that street cops get but we are a special breed to say the least. Would like to hear from others in our line of work. :ywoot
