In your opinion, what is the best optics for CQB on a AR???

I prefer EOTechs, but like Aimpoints as well...

I like the EOTech more because of it's 2D reticle that gives you a 1MOA dot surrounded by a 65MOA reticle. Also, an EOTech has a larger 'window' and is usually closer to your eye than a standard tube red-dot optic. This gives you a more unobstructed view of what you're aiming at.

All of these points give you an extremely fast binocular (both eyes open) aiming point for engaging multiple targets. You are basically looking at a target with a reticle superimposed at the point of aim.

Nice pics!

About the EOTeck sight's, how would it work on a carry handle model?

I want a sight for my Colt CAR w/ carry handle. I know that I will have to mount pretty much an optic forward of the handle on a rail.

I prefer Aimpoints on scout rails, but here's what an EOTech looks like on one...

If you had a handguard rail system (KAC, etc.), you can mount it there and co-witness your optic and irons...

Ahh, thanks RJ!

I am looking at a couple of different rail systems right now so......

I can acquire the target faster with an EOTech but I do like the Aimpoints and will get one for my next build.

I will also say that the new Marine DET-1 choose the Aimpoint. To me, that says a lot because they could have purchased anything they wanted without dealing with DOD contracts and Gov't red tape. They evaluated several optics and collectively decided that the Aimpoint was the best optic for their needs.

What ever happened to the Trijicon sights???

They were on the M4 SOCOM kit, and now all of a sudden you see nothing but EOTechs and Aimpoints.

You still see plenty of ACOGs out there, but Aimpoints and EOTechs are 1/3 their price. Thus part of the reason you'll see more of the lesser priced optics...

When units have a budget, price matters. I'm sure SpecOps purchase what they want however...

I've been waiting on my Aimpoint Comp M2 now for weeks... I just got it literally 2 days ago!

Aimpoint has been filling a very large US Govt. backorder?

I figure if its what's the troops are using, then I want it! With that logic, that's exactly why I purchased my GemTech M496D suppress last year :)

David Fortier just reviewed a new Trijicon for about $500 in an article intitled "M4 Mania".

This optic had four power sources......one of which is a chem light stick you drop in a compartment of the sight.

What's a good magnification power for an M-4/AR-15? I have an Romanian AK-47 and was told not to go any higher than a 8 power for that(6 being prime), but the AK is not as accurate as an AR-15. What's a good scope for both rifles? Everyone's input is valued.
