hey guys,

ive got a deputy here in my area that needs to replace the lower on his weapon ( were in a small comunity, and the guys are responsible for there own stuff) that he cracked during an exersize.

he said if someone has a used one, he will buy it for cash, but if someone has a COMPLETE lower, he has a nearly new ( less than 200 rounds) IAI M1 carbine he will trade with 3 30rd preban magazines ( gun is in 99% condition). brand is unimportant on either.i was going to purchase a new one for him, but hes thinking the newer units are of lesser quality than the older stuff ( this is why he just SET on used). well who knows!

anyway, as my name implies, im a licensed dealer and gunsmith. if anyone has anything or knows of anyone, please give me an e mail at johnsguns@sbcglobal.net

thanks

Welcome to the group, John !!!

First, who made the lower that broke? Some manufacturers have lifetime warrantees.

Since you are a dealer, why not contact Rock River and get a new lower. I can't give you the dealer price on line due to a personal agreement with them, but they are very reasonable, and RR has a great reputation, not to mention them having just been the only US manufacturer to pass a rediculous gov't test for reliability. Give them a call: 1-309-792-5780.

yes, ive told him this, but hes insistant on wanting an older used unit as he feels the newer stuff is of "lesser quality"

personally, ive tried to get him to go the other way, but as a customer, i cant push him on the issue. i do understand it really sounds STUPID ( and thats what i told him) but hes pretty stedfast. i think hes hoping to find something like a bushy or armalite lower............

hell, if hes "uninformed" to the point he wants to trade a nice M1 carbine for a complete lower, im not going to argue with him, he wont listen.

I would consider trading one of my two AR-15 lowers. Both are Bushies. One is about four-years-old and the other is about 1-year-old. Any interest?

Something funny is going on here. This guy is a dealer but he won't order a new lower?

Who the hell would think new is lesser quality?

I would not deal with him, friendly advice.

When your an FFL who could order a Mega lower for about $80 or a PWA for $100, why would you be checking gun boards for a used one?

Well, I work in retail sales and I can affirm that there really are some people out there with the strangest ideas of what is "good."
Seriously, you just wouldn't believe what some people think.

Case in point, there are actual Americans - these are people who are trusted with such responsibilities as driving a car, drinking alcohol, and owning guns - who will actually vote for jOhN f'N k3rRy to serve as President of this great country.

Now, if there is a better example of complete mass insanity out there, I'd like to know about it!!!!
