Is it true that if a person purchases a 14.5" AR upper it demonstrates intent to illegaly build a SBR?
The lady at Model-1 Sales said they would not sell one to me without going through the paperwork and getting the tax-stamp authorizing the ownership of a SBR.
My "intent" was to buy the 14.5 and have a KKF A2 TakBrake in a lengthened 'A3' version permanently attached to bring the barrel length out to a full 16".
She said the only way they'd sell it to me is if I sent them the brake and they attached it prior to delivery...and only if it was a BATF approved brake.
Additionaly, I was going to get the postban front sight in lieu of the pre-ban...just so I would not be tempted to bayonet anyone.
At any rate, my objective is to build an AR as close to the M4 config as possible...and to keep the OAL as short as legally possible.
