I have a colt 9mm ar-15 carbine. I want to know what magazines I can use in it. the original colts are hard to find. Can i use uzi ,sten or tec 9 mags theres plenty of them around. Also what modifications do i have to make so they work. thanks

Uzi mags need a slot cut to engage the ar mag catch. They will not lock the bolt open on empty. No data on tec-9 mags.

I have 3 original Colt mags to go with my carbine, but I can't afford more of them, at least not until Sept. Then, all the people hoarding the pre-bans will be sitting on basically nothing. I can wait 6 months for more.

Until then, I just picked up some converted Uzi mags. Like said before, they don't lock the bolt open on the last shot, but I really don't care about that. They all feed 100%, and they look just like the Colt mags. Guess we can tell where Colt came up with their design. Why change it if it's not broken, right?

If I were you, I'd stick with some converted Uzi's until Sept. Then, if you want original Colts, you can always get a good portion of your cash back on the converted Uzi's and buy the others. Blast me an e-mail in Sept since I wouldn't mind using them after you're done!

I have 2 Colt mags....I know they hold the bolt open .....but I find them hard to load....I much prefer the RRA modified Uzi mags....they load much easier then the Colts and work just as well....I get them from Pete at Legal Transfers in NH

Go with the uzi mags
Coles has them for like 10 for $99.99 or something.
