What the hell is this and how does it work??

I have never seen this before and cannot tell from the picture how it works. Do you guys have any experience with one of these?

It's like a steel shot gun shell with an opening in it large enough for a .45ACP cartridge. You insert a cartridge into it. Stick the whole thing in your shotgun like you would a regular shell and when you fire it the .45 bullet comes out the barrel. Some of these are fairly long, say 6" and have a rifled section in them. Those only work in a break open single or double barrel. That one might not have a rifled section since it's pretty much the same size as a regualr shotshell. Kind of neat but I wouldn't expect much in terms of accuracy. Probably work fine for shooting small game for the camp kitchen. HTH
