The other day the local gun shop has a pile of CZ-52's on sale for 99.00, and I though about picking one up just for the hell of it. Do they shoot good or what, is this a jam-o-matic nightmare, or a C&R deal. You guys are obviously fans, please tell me the good bad and ugly on these things. Are the smaller CZ's a better gun?

$99.00 sounds like a good deal, Check cond. I love mine, Only problem is firing pin, do not dry fire, Alot of places have cheap 7.62x25 ammo, I paid 125.00 for my CZ 52, I put Hoge grips on it and it looks great. Faster than 9MM and cheaper.

An absolute best buy in my opinion.
If you want a backup firing pin made from USA steel-- J&G is selling for $9.95 per.
Extremely simple to take apart and put back together.
Very very accurate. Sights are not adjustable.
The 7.62X25 bullet is a screamer and hauls. I suspect they would go through most human targets unless they hit bone or have to penetrate heavy clothing.
Suggest testing penetration on several trash books with your favorite other calibers shot side by side for comparison..
Aim has ammo inbound from Romania.
SOG will hand select a "grey phosphate" if you ask.
Ask for a new holster also when you order. They come with one extra 8 round clip.
At 100.00per you'll probably want several. They make an excellent vehicle backup reserve.
Recoil is about like a glock 40 cal.

At $99 in a shop (delivered, but + tax) It is a great buy if in decent shape. Have not had a single misfeed, yet. A total BLAST to shoot (literally and figuratively)!

Good: Fire a .30 caliber pellet faster than any other handgun I can think of that doesn't fire the same round. Very flat trajectory.
Bad: The factory firing pin will break after only a couple of dryfires. It's size doesn't lend itself to CCW.
Ugly: Try to stay away from subgun ammo. While it is noticably more potent and usually has a steel core, it is also very corrosive and will start eating by the time you get back from the range.
Get one. Add a Hogue Hand-All and a ss firing pin and you'll turn heads at the range with those little bitty holes and that great big noise.

CZ52's are awesome! I have 5 of them...all 3 years of manufacture in black, plus an extra black one for customizing. Then I have a grey one dated 1952...gotta collect a '53 and a '54 in grey then I'm done? :D

Thanks for all the replies, funny thing is the gun store is now sold out of them, but no biggie they are getting more in. I'll look around at the local pawn shops to kill some time. Now if I did find one at a pawn shop, could I tell if the firing pin was broken without stripping the pistol?

Do a pencil test. Ask first, some people won't let you because they are uncomfortable with the idea. Clear the weapon. Drop a new pencil, because the eraser is nice and flat, down the barrel eraser first. With the pistol pointed up, fire. This is not concidered dry firing because the eraser acts as a snap-cap. The pencil should hop pretty well, I've seen them almost come out of the barrel.

Get One!!!! You will not be disappointed. After you get it, dress it up with a pair of grips from Zee(a member on this board). He does great work. Here is mine after the Zee grips

Personally, I think that this is the best firearm bargain on the market today.
