Here are some pics of a Type 30 bayonet of mine. The Arsenal code is that of Tokyo and Kokura. The manufacture date for Tokyo began in 1897 to 1935, the Kokura Arsenal manufactured from 1936 until 1945.So i can't pin down the date it was made.

If you take notice of the handle, there is a number carved into it.Which is 103 as far as i can tell , who done this and why i have no idea. Also take note that there is a hole drilled through the scabbard near the end.In my opinion this was done so it could be lashed to the leg and there by keeping it form bouncing around in the field.http://www.gunsnet.net/album/data//500/7782Picture_39.jpg http://www.gunsnet.net/album/data//500/7782Picture_38.jpg http://www.gunsnet.net/album/data//500/7782Picture_37.jpg http://www.gunsnet.net/album/data//500/7782Picture_36.jpg

I wonder if the hole was drilled to let water out. Mine does not have any hole at the bottom of the scabbard. The tip was rusted off for the last .25 or so inch. You would think that more would have done it if it was for drainage, though.

Not to pick nits, but might the number be 163?

Otherwise, it is a nice piece, better than most I have seen. :D
