Women in Combat?

Kids in combat?

Soviet Soldiers?

Mosin Nagants?

Narrow it down a bit and I'll keep an eye out for you. I walked past a jackpot this weekend, we were antique shopping in Canton (southeast of Dallas, near Tyler) this weekend and I found a dude with a zillion war photos, letters, official correpondence, paraphenalia, etc. This is the gigantic monthly antique/craft/jink fair they have, the whole town is full of stuff. Everything you could want, but you have to hunt. I say an original WWII soviet commissar's cap for $30, had I not just bought a table for my wife I'd have picked it up. It was among a ton of junk, I mean piles of garage sale type stuff but worse, like someone just shoveled out the contents of some abandoned homes and put it in a trailer. Saw a pristine Carcano long rifle for $300, a bit high for me, and a WASR-10 hicap for $650 with 1200 rounds of chicom steelcore. Way too high, but he'd have come down, but still too high.

Note the sling on the 91/30. It is an expediant sling.

This is my first post to the list. I collect MN's and am a member of the 193rd Strelkovaya Diviziya, RKKA. This photo was taken at Military Through the Ages in Jamestown, VA last month. I am giving a talk on Soviet Women Snipers. With me are Comrades Vassa (with Snyperskaya Vintovka) and Comrade Valeriya (spotter). They came to be know as the dreaded "Russian Sniper girls). I ran a course on marksmanship and fieldcraft for interested members of our unit (used to be backup sniper on my Dept's SWAT team)......Bill G

Buck, MTA this year was great. Our unit took first in unit demo and in Reenactor's Choice. The latter one was particularly poignant as it was voted on by all of the other units attending. Valeriya is very "hardcore".....I actually saw her role a cigarette at an event using newspaper for the rolling paper. That's what the soldaty actually did. The "Front" newspapers that were given out for morale were quickly torn into rolling papers, filled with makhorka (Russian rock-gut tobacco) and smoked. In the pic, Valeriya had smeared mud on her face to cut down on "shine"...I had just finished pounding into their heads; shine, shadow, silhouette, and shape...the four killer "S's" of sniper fieldcraft.
BTW....what Rev War unit are you with? My other unit is the 1st Maryland.....Bill G

Sniperwolf, go to http://www.ostfront.com/ . They have the best choices/prices on the Amoeba suits. They also carry the earlier "leaf pattern" which is very effective. My son portrays a Razvedchik in our unit and he wears this....Bill G

Frontovik:

Valeriya sounds awesome! Hardcore is what I like to see. I dont have a rev war unit right now, im kinda freelance, but I sometimes so do stuff with a nautical unit that crews the speedwell. I do mostly historical trekking these days. 1750-60 period.

great work guys.
Cheers

I'd love to see your collection sometime. I am particulary interested in the pics of Woman Snipers. I have another pic for you, that I lifted from "Rifles of the world" I don't have a scanner but I took two pictures up close, and I will crop them so they look better. The pic is an entire unit of female snipers, one of them looks very much like my GF :)
I'll post the pics ASAP.

hey Lupe, did you watch that "snipers" show on History Channel about Russian Snipers? they had lots of footage and pics and interviews of the female snipers (all grown up now)
