now this was interesting. all the experts said this was bogus until we got an ossie (east german) on board whose father was a former ddr nva officer and verified he had seen this style of cap being experimented with (without the neck flap). so, don't always blindly follow the "experts"!!! :D

Nice! Do you collect NVA stuff a lot? I have dabbled in it but just have a few items as props for my rifle pics like a winter suit, helmet, gloves, tanker suit, etc. All the common stuff.

the thread is actually a tan but the nylon kinda reflects the light and makes it look lighter. i'm pretty damn sure the flap was added on post wall (the color doesn't QUITE match and the only mark is the size, "60"...i think there's a good chance many of these m-43 caps are real based on what the ossie said but it would be nice to get other verification...:)

ez, my collection is pretty much the same now, field gear and uniforms. i used to have a really amazing collection of dress and service uniforms but i sold them all off once i'd collected everything (d'oh!). i kept the field gear cuz i did opfors and actually used the stuff. i do have some of the more unusual goodies though, such as the "rambo" bayonet and stuff like that.

i hear you....hardcorps....i in no way am trying to put you or any of your posts down and i am by no means an expert in the nva...i am light hearted and want to have fun as i learn.
i too have been flamed by so called experts in the field of the nva.
(who dont know jack and are more into their own typed words.)
on this thread i only wanted to state that i have seen these on an auction site as i wrote above.
hope things are cool here as i feel i have alot to learn and might have some info others can learn from:cool:
