Alright everyone, gather 'round the campfire.
What cheapo-bulk pack ammo have your tried and how do you rank it?
Remington Golden Bullet Valu-pak: utter crap *thumbs down* I can HEAR the variations.
Federal Lightning: way better than the remington golden bullet junk.

I have tryed Win, Rem, Fed and they seem to vary as to their "suckiness"
The last few bulk boxes I have bought are rems and they are working, couple of boxes ago it was the wins, fore that the feds, no rhyme nor reason that I can see.

Do you think most bulk stuff is made by some generic company and the big name MFR's just put their name on it?

No I don't however I also can't really see why the varation in suckiness.
Have you seen much varation?

In the remington, the variation was extreme from load strength to projectile seating.
With the federal, about 1 in 7 shots was "off" enough from the rest of the group where it wouldn't hit the plinking target.

In all the brands that wally world carries, I have got the ping ping PING (little ping) sound from every bulk pack I have ever bought. And I go thru ALOT of .22 ammo.

I still need to mosey to Wally World and check out their valu-pak. I heards it's way better than the remington stuff.

I have seen a white value pak at wally world, is that the one your refering to? If so I can't recall for sure who made it but i think it was Win.
Winchester Dynapoints are the white box I think your referring too. My Wally World only has the 22 magnum ones though
I was able to find the 22LR boxes at a local K Mart though. I haven't shot either yet but I've heard good things about them.
I will agree that the Rem Goldens suck bung, they are horrible IMO. I have had pretty good luck with the Federals though. I've never shot them for groups. I mostly pull the bulk pack out when I just want to blast or someone who isn't a shooter wants to try their hand at throwing a few rounds downrange.

The Win Dynapoint I got a Wally a couple weeks ago were like $9.83 or something close with tax for 500. Of the 250 or so we shot, don't remember hearing a lot of variation. Cycled very well in my Model 60 and shot pretty well too. I will definitely be shooting these a lot more in the future. Just my $.02 worth.

I guess I didn't make my self very clear  I bought 22 Mag in 50 round boxes, they had no .22 LR bulk packs at the Wally World I visited.
I guess if you really wanted to you could buy 10 boxes and throw them in a larger box and call it a bulk-pak :p

I'm not a fan of most of the bulk packed ammo.
What I consider to be average or crap:
-Federal 38gr HP bulk pack of 550 rds
-Remington Golden bulk packs of 525rds
-Winchester Xperts
(Winchester Dynapoints are a great exception to bulk pack quality, though they are also more than most bulk packs in my area)
I AM a fan of bricked economy ammo:
-Remington Thunderbolts and Cyclones
-Federal Lightnings and American Eagle
-Winchester Wildcats
If there are any others please suggest them.
CCI used to sell a nice 275rd plastic "hip pack" of bulk Mini-mags. They came in a green plastic tub that had belt loops. Very handy.

Remington Thunderbolts are the worst crap in my experience... I shot a box of that crap and not only could you hear the difference (some were booms others sounded like SSS)... It was also the dirtiest ammo that I have ever shot...

Of all the Bulk Packs I've tried, Federal has been the best (which isn't saying much).
Remington is by far the worst, with Winchester in between the others.
Remington's ThunderThuds are just as bad as their bulk packs. I avoid them like a plague. Federal Lightnings are pretty good, as are the Winchester High Velocity loads (NOT Wildcats).
Of the inexpensive non-bulk pack ammo, CCI Blazer is probably my favorite that can be had for $10 to $12 per brick.

I'll be honest, I don't pay attention.
99.999% of my shooting is plinking for groups. Variations give me an added challenge to make sure that I'm doing my part in the shooting equation.
If I do my part then I can just blame it on the ammo.:D

Bulk packs......HUmmmm...
Remington Golden Bullets are TOAL CHIT.....I use to buy them all the time from Big5 when they had them on sale for $9.99 for 525 but no more. You can go through a 10 round mag and hear three distinct varriations. I wouldn't be suprised if some of those where double charged. The 550 Pack of Federal @ Wally World are good and the Winchester DynaPoints are great for bulk ammo. WInchester Xpert is ok but it's not copper washed/plated.

Ok any of you remember the russian .22 ammo with the rooster on the box?
Boy Howdy that was some dirty .22 ammo.
They would go pop, poof, pop poof,
then I would shoot some american made ammo and POP, POP, POP, pop, POP.
That was dirty, waxy, bad ammo.

well, i primarly shoot remington golden bullets and dont have any issues with them...they group up nice w/ my heavy barrel. They are a bit dirty but i dont mind cleaning my rifle every few hundred rnds. Dropped many little kritters w/ em with outstanding results....
