Well here is a little guide line. There is an Arsenal mark on the receiver after the serial number. And by knowing what Arsenal it was made by, you can then look up what years that specific Arsenal produced that rifle. Now before the serial number is the series number.

Ok, so if the series number on your rifle is the first in production , meaning it is the lowest one.Your rifle was made the first year the Arsenal was in production. And if your rifle was the last in the series, this means your rifle was made in the last year of production of the Arsenal.

Type 99, Nagoya series 5, likely early 40s.

Thanks guys. :D

Too bad it is pieced together. I got it from a guy who had sporter/bubbaized it. Monopod and sling are repros. Stock is off a rusted out wall-hanger.

It may not go for much on the collector market, but that is not why I collect, anyway.

1. Restoration is fine if there is no other recourse. Youve made her proud again. I would say bravo.

It is pretty and when you bring it back from Bubba's touch, that's when restoration is called for no argument. Nice job

Thanks y'all. I really appreciate the kind words! :)

Actually, I only posted because I didn't realize the "how old" question was rhetorical. I thought AIC was starting a thread to report approx. years of mfg. rather than offering info to newer collectors. :o
