They are not even close to being compatable. There are also no true "drop in auto sears" for the AKs like there are for the AR series of weapons. The only way to get a legal F/A AK is to buy one already on the registry, period. All these other gimics like the shoe strings and Hellfires are still semi-auto weapons and only simulate full auto by pulling the trigger quicker.

ATF won't let you take a registered sear from one type of rifle and use it in another type of rifle. For example, you can't use your Flemming HK sear in an AK (assuming that you could manage to get it to work...and it HAS been done), or an AR15. However, you can put your registered HK sear in any HK "type" rifle, not neccessarily a real HK. You could put that HK sear in a Federal Arms clone of the HK G3, or any of the other manufacturer HK clones, and it's perfectly legal. But put it in an AK and it's illegal. Kind of pretzel logic, but it's the way that they interpret the rules...

pvtpyle: the shoestrig is considered a Machinegun by the ATF because the mechanical
use of the bolt carrier to the trigger. the hellfire is not classified has a machinegun because the hell fire only uses the trigger
not the bolt carrier. i know its dumb but i don't make the laws.
