OK now I had( Or rather my father had) a Colt AR when I was a kid. I used to get to take care of it :D
In the service I had Vietnam vintage 16s, first unit an A1s and the A2 by the time I got out.
About a year ago I had a RRA, should have never of sold it and I only had it for a short time.
Now I got a Colt Match Compitition HBAR with A3 upper. Real nice.
I am learning and relearning all the ins and outs of the Colt ARs.
But the thing I have to ask, while I was deciding whether or not to trade my prized Beretta for this rifle at Gun shows and shops I got the same answers. "Colt is not what it used to be", "Not mil spec", "They are going out of bussiness".
Well?
1. "Colt is not what it used to be" I looked at Armilites, Bushmasters and DPMS today and the Colt seems just as if not more solid.
2. "Not mil spec" Ok now mine has 2 same size push reciever pins, so that is not an issue. I understand that it has Non mil spec Fire control pins, am I the only one who does not have a problem with this? As someone who had to surender a gun to the ATF because some moron messed with it. I like the idea that this on cannot be tampered with. Plus I can still use any post ban upper I want, I think?
3."They are going out of bussiness" I did not know this had happened before? How do you go out of bussiness when you have major government contracts? If they do go out of bussiness I guess that will end my Lifetime Service Agreement? Will them going out of bussiness effect the value of my AR?
Any answers, additions.? Just thought id share.
