cleaning rod question

well i unscrewed my cleaning rod off of my type 99. is it even a cleaning rod? its only a few inches long. I'm talking about the rod that sticks out under the muzzle. I'm puzzled.

If your #5 series rifle has a two screw type front barrel band than the rod should measure 4- 7/8 inches long.If it were a 3 screw type front barrel band ,the proper length would be 23-3/4 inches.Why did they make it so short, that i don't know.



I also have a shorty, meaning cleaning rod.:p
