The season is here and I wanna hear some varmint hunting stories! Lets get out there and control the varmint population and then come here and brag about it. That's what this place is for. ;)
Personally I've done a little hunting earlier, but the weather was too cold. No luck yet. I've seen plenty of groundhogs, but they weren't in a handy place to shoot near (they were on the side of a busy road).

I'm going to solicit farmers to see if they need shootin' done on their land. I'll be doing it for free, so hopefully people will take me up on the offer.

I had a great opportunity. I came home and found a new friend to play with in my garden. He was a nice one for sure...
Just when I got back down with my rifle and almost got into position, the groundhog stood up and looked around therefore stopping my movement in his line of sight. He then took off for his hole and that was that. Turns out a small bunch of dogs (someone's pets let run loose) screwed up my hunting while they ran in a mini pack. Why do people have to be so irresponsible with their mutts?

Sorry to hear that. Maybe you should move to somewhere less restrictive. ;)

I shot the squirel in City limits with my AR and I live 1/2 mile from the police station!:D The neihbores(SP) never even came out! I also live next to the school which is always ripping stuff down and building new stuff so I guess there used to loud bangs.
And yes I made sure it was in a safe direction and no one was around. I am on the 2nd floor and the ground around here is always muddy and very few rocks.

to the front of the house.. is.. another house... to the left... same... the right... same....
to the back of the house is a nice nice nice backstop.. but its an elevated portion of highway about 200 feet back... and in between us and that are 4 huge trees that we planted to cut down noise....
not much of a shooting area at all :)
I'll stick with the low velocity subsonic wont cycle the damn gun .22LR bullets..... in which case i mearely piss the SOB off and have to club him to death with the 4 cell maglight I'm using..

I've been shooting cats with an airsoft out my apartment door.
Does that count?

I dono, to count you must kill them but I dont see a airsoft killing anything unless its a small bird or you managed to hit the cat in the eye, in which case I would hunt you down an gut you! :p

The Airsoft won't even kill birds. On the way to Yellowstone my 8 year old was shooting starlings at a rest area. The birds just bounced around and continued with their worm hunting. It was more an irritation to them than anything else.
As for the cats, it's just a means to keep them from licking up BBQ drippings and getting too fat.
We did bust out the 22s near Yellowstone at a friends cabin. We shot probably 8-12 digger squirrels. There were boroughs everywhere. It was like NYC for rodents; is this a redundant statement?

LOL, if it is I cant tell. Im too tired to make in major thinking. Buy yourself a level 2 gear box and a 3000MAH battery and that will get you up to 400fps. Should be able to kill a bird then! :D

I almost long for an infestation some days. At the moment there's only one of my little buddy's to play with and he's skittish because of the dogs and the occasional loud noises. I need to get with my uncle and clear some time with him to show me his plots this year. I need to know where I can and can't hunt.

I'm fortunate enough that the land I hunt on is about a 7 minute drive from my house and is loaded with coyotes! So, since I don't have to be at work untill 7:30 am I go for a drive out there to check things out. About a week ago there was a coyote crossing the pasture so I quickly drove around to the other side where the hills were. I then parked where he couldn't see me or my vehicle, crawlled up the hill and peaked over the top. There he was slowly trotting my way then I whistled to stop him:D Oh boy things were about to get good:D I squeezed the trigger on my Remington bull barrel .223 and he dropped like a ton of bricks. The shot was about 125 yards so it wasn't too bad. He was awful mangey looking. I guess because it's been so hot lately. I always carry my rifle in my truck just in case! Hope you guys have some luck soon! Wud Duk-OUT!
P.S. I still made it to work with about 20 minutes to spare:D
