curious as to how long that stuff lasts and what do you do when it dies out? Is the scope useless at that point?

Tritium has a half-life of about 10 yrs. So 10 yrs from when that batch was made, it will be half as bright-but may still be usable. 10 more yrs. and it will be half as bright again-being 1/4 of the original brightness. As long as the scope has some type of reticle-it'll still be useful during the day. Don't know about replacing tritium vials. Maybe if returned to manufacturer, they could do it?

Green and yellow sights are warranted for 12 years. The orange lamp only carries a 5 year warranty.

My 1989 SKS has some tritium rear sights... they still glow!
