AR47 Build?

Ok, I have built a few AK's in my time and now I would like to build an AR. The only thing is, I want to use some of the AK stuff I have amassed. I am wanting to build myself and AR47, 762x39. I don't even know where to start though. I know nothing about AR's. What all will I need? I know a guy that sells the lowers for this build but past that, I have no idea where to go. Can anyone here give me a little advice? Maybe point me toward some suppliers? I really don't need to spend boatloads of money here and I am not really trying for a National Match rifle either. Just a nice, 762x39 caliber plinker. TIA

Get the stripped AR-47 lower & a lower parts kit. The parts in the lower are all standard AR-15 parts. You'll want to use an A2 length buffer tube. You can pick from a variety of stocks but I like the A1/A2 stocks the best. You'll need a 7.62x39 upper, bolt/bolt carrier & barrel. Check out www.dpms.com as they sell uppers. The upper receiver & bolt carrier must be modified. Instructions to do this are on www.ar47.com or you can pay them $75 or so & they will have a gunsmith do it. I bought mine as a complete rifle, been happy with it so far. I opted for the 20" but carbine length barrels are available too.

Well, I just clicked on the dpms link and I think that one must be wrong as it is a printing company. If yo could get that one for me, I would really appreciate it. The guy at AR47.com is not far from me. I will have to go over there and talk to him. Thanks again.

BTW, that is what I want mine to look like, sans optics. Nice rifle! :cool:

the one with the drum looks sweet :D , but I still just cant pull myself to like the one with the AK47 mag... still just looks wierd to me.. :(
