I posted this on the C&R pistol forum:

Saw a CZ27 at a local gun shop today. Got my interest. Neat little pistol. Any info on these? What is a good price?
The gun was in beutiful shape, came with one mag and holster. Holster had some ink stamps on the inside of the flap and "HOGAN" scrached on the back below the belt loop. No import markings, "waffenamt" markings on top of slide and barrel hood. Six digit serial started with 370... Are there any mags available? They were asking $300. Probably too much...

Vit the VZOR 27 is an extremely well made pistol-even the occupation german were made to good standards. The pistol is very complex (for its caliber) but strong, without seeing it $300.00 may be too much for a user pistol-for a good quailty WW2 German pistol maybe not-depends where your interest lay-it's a collector's pistol-they will appreciate it, for common use you could do better with $300.00...

I wanted one, but the urge passed.

I'm thinking this would be more of an ivestment, I would still shoot it as I take good care of my guns and most look new even after being shot quite a bit.
Is it still an investment if you never sell it?:D

That is actually a good ballpark value. $250-275 would be very good.

The CZ27 is a very accurate, well made pistol. Prewar versions of it are high polish blued, later versions from the war were generally rougher blue or a phosphate finish.

The Germans thought so much of them that they kept the factories open and it was an isssue pistol for German troops.

I have a wartime production pistol that my father brought back--it is worth about 275 + or - I purchased a prewar piece that I have traded for a CZ24--it was valued at about 300.

They are highly collectable, but not uncommon. If you are interested in them, here is a website that collects info. Go through it and check out the properties on the identifying pics and you can learn a great deal about them.
