Bryan, that appears to be a KLMK two piece uniform. These usually come with a mask, similar to the Lone Ranger's, with diamond shaped eye holes and an elastic head band. There were usually several "scrim tabs" on the front and back of the jacket to insert branches and grass for better camo.
Units to which they were issued include; VDV(Airborne) GRU spetsnaz and recon. Troops of the Shock Assault Manuver Groups(DShMG) of the Federal Border Service (FPS) in the Tadzhikistan border area wear this as a summer uniform. The KGB's 11th and 12th Border detachments also wore it in this area also. So sniper use is likely by those assigned to the units receiving these suits. But there is no specific sniper suit made or issued of this style.
This style camo in both one piece and two piece suits have been issue in the Soviet Army and other services arouned 1961 to 1991. I imagine it's still in use for training due to the quantities it was made in. They even made berets, Kamuflirovannaia furazhka(peaked caps), and polevaia furazhka(field caps) in the camo pattern and similar material(with a grid pattern in the weave).
The Soviet era uniforms usually had the information printed on the inside of the uniform, but I have seen some printed on an additional piece of cloth sewn into a seam. There is also a similar uniform made of a heavier Burlap like material issued as summer camo with similar camo pattern, called "Spetsodezhda"(Special Purpose Clothing, original eh?) that was soley issued to border and special operations forces. three variations exist of this one, with only one having a hood and it was a one piece suit for motorized crews.
As to real or fake, they have been made from existing stocks of material for sale to non military. And like i said, most issue suits will have the makers info and military acceptance marks printed directly on the inside of the uniform during the Soviet era, if marked at all. It is a good Cold War item though, typical of Soviet issue camo.

This is KZS, Kostyum Zaschitnyj Setchatyj (Protective Mesh Suit), used by Border Guards, Snipers, Recon teams etc. Orignally intended as a light disposable oversuit to give troops some additional protection against some of the factors of WMD, like the intial flash of nuclear explosion and droplets of chemical agents.
