My wife is interested in the Bushmaster "lady". Her mom used to competition shoot years ago, and she is thinking about getting into it. I figured .223 would be a good weapon to go with, it's got a match grade barrel and the weight would be great.

Any suggestions or comments?

Is that the Carbon-15 with the different color stock set? I have the Carbon-15 in the "basic black" clothing and am happy with it. Having a match barrel and chamber, it is a little tight and very ammo sensitive, but once I found out what ammo it likes, it is one of my favorite shooters. I put a nice scope on it, and it has proven to be a very accurate rifle.

About the only down side to mine is that fabulous muzzle flash, that even in daylight, you can see the orange flame through the scope. Awesome!

Yeah, it's kind of maple tan. Supposed to be only 3.9 lbs or something.

Comes with a 10 rounder, but I am guessing they can take 30's if you want.

Seems cool.

It uses any standard M16 mag.

O.S.O.K.

interested in shooting NRA High-Power competition? This is the most common competition accross the country (3 position classic military type shooting).

If so, then you need to steer her to a standard configuration rifle, like the Bushy XM15. No AR-type rifle is too much for a woman to handle IMHO...

The Carbon series rifles are not legal for High Power comp.

I didn't notice that you talked about competition, my brain must have been off. My daughter is doing CMP and since they require that the rifle look like the military version, I got her a Rock River National Match, CMP legal. It weighs a bit more than the 3.9 pound Carbon 15, about 6 pounds more :D but my daughter has no problems with it, and it is one fabulous tack driver, even in my old hands.

I didn't know that, I've never done any comps or matches, although it sounds like fun.

Well now I've got to rethink this. She really likes the looks of the "lady".

Any matches at all she could compete in with it? I didn't now CMP had to "look" like the regular rifle. Does that mean M-4geries are out too?
