so, what's everyones criteria for a combat blade? mine is at least a quarter inch thick, blade at least 8 inches long, full tang, made of high carbon tool steel.

Hey, that's my idea of a real 'combat' blade. Nowadays, I just use a gun ;)

my blade of choice is a 38'' japanese katana with 14'' handle, very effective!!!

I prefer a 7" clip point, flat ground blade, in stainless steel.Or a katana hehe.

Speaking of KABARs, I have one of Ontario's SpecPlus KABAR clones. That has got to be one of the best fixed blades I've ever used, and it only costs around $30! I've split kindling with my SpecPlus and a rubber mallet, and the edge still shaves.
