They are the best blade for the buck, IMHO.

Here is the list to date.

1.) Medium Tanto Voyager

2.) Recon Tanto

3.) Recon 1 Spear Point

I am also looking at getting their UWK with powder coated blade.

Own 6 or 7 I guess, definitely a good value for the money. The Carbon Master Hunter is one great value for the Deer hunter. IMHO of course.

Yes they are great knives. They compare very favorably to knives costing much more than they do. But one thing to remember thier high performance steel is carbon. This is how you get a great knife at an affordable price. Here are just my fixed blade cold steel knives.http://www.gunsnet.net/album/data//500/184872004_0516Image0006-med.JPG

Het! optimus my brother had one of those UWK knives and it just was'nt very impressive. If I were you I would definitely hold before buying. The blade is'nt very thick. I guess it would be good for what it's name implys, under water knife. I guess diving knives is what they had in mind bcause the first ones were stainless steel.

I see I made a mistake in the previous post. I meant you should hold one in your hand before buying.

Deer Sniper, thanks for the heads up!

I have not seen much less held one in person. I was attracted to these knives due to the kinship they have with the Vietnam SOG Bowies.

One feature I have never liked about them is the fact they lack any type of hammering pommel on the handle.

Oh, BTW, I did I mention that my kitchen knives are all COLD STEEL! :D

They make great cutlery for the chiefs around.

My brother has their bushman. Looks pretty nice, decently priced, seems to be good quality. I don't think he's ever used it for anything, so I can't comment on its performance. I have their bad ax. Double bladed, has about a 7" cutting edge. The metal is fairly thin but its held up despite some hefty use. It was advertised as a throwing axe, but I've used it to cut down trees. I'd like to try one of their machetes, I've seen them very affordably priced. Too bad they don't make a 22" machete.

Optimus I was interested in them for the same reason but I was very dissapointed with the one my brother had.

I have several of their toys. I have a straight-edge mini Culloden boot knife, a war hammer and an M1917 US Naval Cutlass. The hammer is my camping tool. I use the spike to loosen the evil rock that Arizonans call dirt, so that I may pound in tent stakes. The Cutlass also makes a darn fine machete, since the semi-basket hilt protects my hands from nasty stickers. The Culloden is a magnificent steak knife, and general-purpose splinter picker/fingernail cleaner. I've also used their old LTC kukri (do they even make that anymore?), though you need gloves for heavy work or the checkered grips will blister your hands something fierce. My dad keeps an SRK in his 'go-bag' at all times, and their Recon Scout is a hell of a beastly knife. All in all, I love every Cold Steel product I've seen except their Voyager folders, which despite being high-quality products, just don't tickle my fancy.

Yes they do still make the ltc kukri, though now it is 3/16" thick, and flat ground.

I always wanted one of the ATC kukris, 1/4" thick and capable of chopping pretty much anything I care to chop.

Yeah, they really do make some nice "high end" knives, I just stick to the low end though as I spend all my extra money on gun stuff. :D

Original SOG knives from the Vietnam era are extremely rare and replicas can be very costly. To remedy this situation, Cold Steel has used modern materials and construction methods to make our own more reasonably priced version. They call the SOG style knife, the UWK and it follows the profile of the original very closely. The only changes made were to bead blast the blade and to utilize an integral KratonŽ handle and guard. In keeping with the UWK's tactical mission, we have included a thermo plastic sheath made of Secure-Ex with an adjustable Cordura belt loop.

Features:
Edge: Plain
Weight: 7.1 oz.
Blade Thick: 3/16"
Blade Length: 6 1/2"
Handle: 4 7/8" long KratonŽ
Overall Length 11 3/8"
Finish: 420 Sub Zero Quenched with bead blast

Guess I should've mentioned it takes 1000 rewards points for every $5 in purchase credits so you can calculate how much I had to spend to get the $40 off.

At least I can tell the old lady "but honey, it only cost me $20"

Looking at a CRKT folder next!

I think I paid around $20 for my mini-Culloden boot knife at the SHOT show a few years back.

That is because there is only 1308 or 1310 of them in existance..

Supposedly the CMH winner Benavidez widow sold his for a few thousand.

Thanks for the link HDR!

Benavidez has always been a personal hero of mine. I first learned of his heroic feat on a box of a G.I. Joe doll of himself. It was one of many CMH winner dolls that was in that line.

Sad too, should have learned about him in public school!

I also have a few of their older small knives. A tiny push dagger and a Hai Hocho...

I think those OSS knives make damn fine fighting knives. Too bad I think knives shouldn't be used for fighting... I'd never get much use out of it ;)

The sub-hilt? I'd say they help with control. I fight with rapiers quite often, and having a sub-hilt under your trigger finger allows excellent fine control of the blade angle.

I've got a RSK and just ordered a Trail Master yesterday. I love the Cold Steel CarbonV. I got my RSK for $40, and have not found an other $40 knife that will out perform it.

The one in the middle and on the left are the best style of fighters.

There's a variety of best ways to grab a knife while fighting and the 2 above knives support those grips.

Saber, icepick etc etc.
