I'm looking to buy a new red dot sight or reflex sight for my AR15 flat top... I already have an Aimpoint Comp M2 on one of my AR's... I'm looking to get another type of sight.

Anyone have any experience with Trijicon Reflex sights?

I'm looking at this one:

http://dboy.cpgl.net/sight/trijcon/RX01NSN.jpg

This is the one issued to special forces, $419.99 from SWFA...

Any cheaper sources?

It has a 4.3 MOA dot, but they also come with a chevron and a triangle reticle?

I have one on my Bennelli slug barrel. The only thing I would change is the triangle recticle. Otherwise works for me.

if you handguard rail mount these, do they cowitness well with A2 uppers?

There are some issues with this optic washing out when in really bright light. There are also issues when going from - or shooting from - a darker structure (home/doorway/etc) into a brighter environment.

You also need to BUY a riser mount to get good eye position on a flat-top upper. To me it looks kind of odd when risen (as your image above shows).

The Reflex II is a good optic, but it's going by the wayside with most shooters and the military to battery powered and combo powered optics. For the price, and the price of mounts, I'd personally choose something else...

Meprolight has their own version of this reflex optic, and I've heard better reviews about it.

JE3146, they co-witness with a gooseneck mount, and look pretty good in this setup. But like I said above, for the money, I'd choose something else. ;)

ya .. the problem being I have an A2...

Been thinking about a handguard mounted aimpoint.. but I'm itching for a cowitness....

and not really in the mood to spend the 90 some $'s for a new upper, then have to pay a gunsmith the money to swap it..

JE, this gooseneck setup would look sweet with your A2 upper and will allow co-witnessing...

$380 with mount: http://www.gtdist.com/ProductDetail.aspx?PartNumber=TRI-RX01-10

Mark, this setup looks nice from GG&G. It's using the same MAD backup iron I use, and puts the optic out front a little bit too. It's the best "looking" mount I have seen for the Reflex...

But I still prefer EOTech's on M4s. In case you haven't seen it before (and I'm sure you have) here's my EOTech mounted M4 that I love soooooo dearly!!!! :D :D :D

JE, this is my favorite A2 co-witnessing setup. Aimpoint!!!! I am most likely going to do this with my A2, unless I just decide to make it an A3/A4 upper...

I donno RJ.. something about those goosenecks is a turnoff...

I posted about a freefloat RAS setup in the main discussion...

almost wondering what I could get to cowitness if mounted on a rail....

I would LOVE an aimpoint.. but.. Aimpoint + gooseneck just looks .... wrong... to me for some reason...

donno.. all this would prolly go out the window if I ever had the chance to look through the sites of an Aimpoint or something...

How much do you think it would cost me for a gunsmith to do an A2/A3 swap..... should prolly even hit up .308.. he lives locally to me.. he have the tools to do it for a cost?

Prolly almost seems worth shelling out the dividend as a "fuckup" expense than to trade the coolness factor... thats half the fun of owning one of these funs :D.. then of course.. thanks to both you and .308 if I did get an A3.. it'd be a tossup between the 511 and the ML2comp... all those damn pics of yours are evil... i swear evil!!! :D

could prolly get money for my A2.. only 400 or so rounds through it... perfect condition and its FN contract

I'd prolly just be better off getting an ARMS carry handle mount for an Aimpoint.. and forget about cowitness ... it'd be cheaper :)

happen to have a pic of that by chance :)?

RJ Shooter

I would go with a new upper instead of an ARMS carry handle mount. Cheek wield sucks on optics mounted too high.

.308 definitely knows what he's doing when it comes to changing out uppers though. He also knows FF handguards as well!!!

Don't know what his schedule is like, but if he's willing to do it, you can count on good work... :D:D:D:D:D

yea... I'll just do that... first I have to save my pennies though....

being an 18 year old college student doesn't leave much in the way of spending money lol...

but .. anyways.. thanx for the help RJ :D

Check out Ebay, I just picked up a Reflex II triangle reticle with flat-top mount for $311.50 shipped. I love it, I purchased one of those polarizing filters and it works fine.

Ebay is ok, but the problem with ebay is sometimes that stuff is stolen. LIke the 240 dolar cell phone i bought last year. It broke after 2 months. .and I coudlnt get it fixed because it was reported "missing." Warranties are ebay merchandise are also hard to come by.

I agree that Ebay is somewhat of a hit and miss but I normally check out the feedback and form there it's a gut feeling.

Anyway here's a pic of my Reflex II on my Bushy M4gery,

Geezah, is that a KKF FFS on your muzzle?

Also, does that ARMS co-witness with your Reflex?

It's the KKF A3Takbrake.

Yes the 40L does co-witness with the Reflex II, it took a while but me and a buddy got it zeroed in on Sunday.

Now all I need to finish my M4gery off is the ACE SOCOM stock, which will be on in Sept.

Here's a before pic with the 40L up,

Cool. I couldn't tell if it was the FFS (slots closed - open muzzle) or the A3TB (slots open - muzzle narrow). The image looked like the slots were closed...

Can't wait to get my A3 Flash Hider installed!!!!!

1st off I purchased the First Samco M44, then found out it was crap, so I sold it on Ebay for a profit, then I looked at getting the YHM 2pc but for a few more $ I bought the Surefire M73 rail and love it. I got the M73 on AR15.Com on the EE board, best place to find deals.
Then I got 12 (different sizes) KAC rail covers, brand new on Ebay for $90, which works out to be about $7.50 a cover.
The KAC vertical grip I purchased as new also on AR15.Com for $30, that was shipped.
Once I have the ACE SOCOM stock on it, that's it, I won't be doing anything else to it;) but that won't go on until after Sept 14th.
The light holder is a First Samco(it's ok, but I prefer Tango Down's) and the light is a Streamlight Scorpion, just picked up another on Ebay for $30 shipped.

Ebay is cool, so long as you play it right, it's almost like a game of chess

By the way thank you for the complement.:)

I still think this is the most sexy looking (not to mention the most functional) setup ever made for the M68 CCO:

I swipped one of the boxes they ship baseball bats to Wal-Mart in, the guy in the sports department said it was ok, then I had packing foam I picked up from the mail room here and bubble wrap. You can never put two much, also I padded both ends of the box just in case it was dropped.
Then I sent out UPS, make sure on the paperwork you put it's going to a business, that way Kurt has to sign for it the other end, I also insured the whole thing for about $700+.

JUst make sure you have plenty of padding and it's tight, it took me a while to get round to it but once I did, I'm real happy with the results.

Getting back to the original question, I have a reflex one with 4 moa dot mounted on a gooseneck carry handle mount. It co-witnesses perfectly with the iron sites, and the cheekweld is also perfect. The dot washes out to some degree in very intense sunlight and it is not brite when pointed from a darkened area to an area of intense light. However, the iron sites are visible in the type of lighting that causes the dot to wash out. And there are no batteries to die or switchs to leave on. The unit is always functional. It is my favorite setup for the AR type carbine and I either own or have used most of the available quality optical sites.
