1. Is the size of the Mounting Ring the same as an AKM Bayonet Mounting Ring? 2. If you were to put the Red Handeled East German AK-74 Bayonet on any AKM would it fit tight or would the front of the Bayonet wiggle around on the AKM Muzzle Comp. I would assume the front of the AK-74 Muzzle Brake was the same Diameter as an AKM's however I have never seen them side by side.. If some one has tried putting AK-74 Bayonet's on an AKM Chinese or otherwise, Please let me know. Thanks a lot. Paul

The mounting rings are roughly the same size on all AKM pattern bayonets. Some can differ slightly, it all depending on the country of origin. The differences if any are very small, barely noticable.

Out of all the AKM pattern bayonets only the Model 6X5 type will fit on the Chinese rifles. I believe the Zastava and North Korean AKM bayonets are the only exception. The latch on the Chinese bayonets is set further to the rear than on all other AKM pattern bayonets; the cleaning rod retainer is also slightly longer than on most AKM variants; this is why most all AKM pattern bayonets other than Chinese will not lock into place on Chinese AK variants (that feature the AKM type bayonet lug that is) unless further modified.
