Actually its a pennant. Its about 8' long and 3' tall. It has a blue field w/ a circle of stars (cant remeber how many, have to check). Has 3 red stripes and 2 white stripes on tail. It is made out of linen and the stars are sewn on. Its attached to a wooden rod that has two hooks on it. Ive been told thats its a post civil war (c. 1865-1870) naval flag but cant confirm that. Based on its construction, patina and wear the age is probably pretty close. Anyone have any info or clues as to what this is? Thanks.

i think it might be civil war era, not post. it's 13 stars in a circle. that was the cw-era but i'm not 100% positive about the timing.

Hardcorps your right it is 13 stars. I have it stored and packed away in a box away from the light. I have a lot of other unique military items I can share if anyone is interested. When I was a kid I collected and had a pretty nice collection, now most of it is packed away in the attack of my moms house.
