Why would I want a CZ52 over a Makorov? Help me decide. Tell me the cool things about a CZ52 that a Mak won't have.

I finally got around to firing my CZ yesterday,,, whant to know whats kool ... the thing is loud as hell and the muzzle blast is ball of flame .... I shot 2 boxes of S&B thru it with no problems. The muzzle velocity is alot higher in the 7.62x25 than the Mak's 9x18 round.. They are not as accurate as a Mak and a lot heaver .. I bought my CZ for fun.. i have several Maks and a Tokaerov also..

Shoot it into a stack of trash books about 8"inches thick and check out the penetration---Awesome

Heck, mine was shooting clean through a steel wheel off a truck. Penetrated it every time like it was paper. Now that is cool. I also tried shooting it @ 100 yards with my rifles, I could hit the oil drum downrange about 1 in 5 shots. And that was only my second time shooting it.

Sure it is, you just need to be a safe distance away for your own safety.

Just make sure you are hitting it with enough grunt is wont come back and bite you. Do people who shoot steel challenge use normal ammo? Besides those are designed to fall and let the round go over the top. I don't know, people spend millions trying to make steel stronger, I would rather shoot milk jugs. They wont shoot back.

you can change its looks real easy by walnut or colored grips (by zee on this site)
if it breaks it makes a bigger club than the mak
1200 rds for $110
if it breaks, it cheap to replace the whole gun.

I hate my CZ-52! The trigger pull is too heavy and it misfeeds regularly. Other than that, it's a cool looking pistol.

Couldn't find a gray, so I bought a black. Still, at $89 a pop, how could I say no?
And the 7.62 Tokarev round is a HOOT!

You don't. You want one of both.
I think the CZ52 is very accurate, no less than a Mak in my opinion. It offers more penetration, and is full sized. The Mak is easer to take down, and is more concealable. Both are great pistols in my book, and a real value.

A 9mm riccochet bounced off a steel plate and hit me right between the eyes. Fortunately, most of the kinetic energy was gone and all the bullet did was leave a red welt.
Keep a safe distance if you are shooting at steel. I hope you aren't shooting in a dry area that's prone to brush fires.

I've got a question. I've heard many of you guys rave about 52's, so much so, I ran out and bought one. It was gray, and if I had to guess, it must of been an arsenal rebuild-every single part looked new. I tried several different kinds of ammo,2 different surplus rounds, S&B, Chinese and finally Winchester. The Winchester shot the best, but none seemed to live up to the accuracy mentioned by others, although the penetration and power were certainly there. I was so disillusioned that I assumed I just had a bad piece. I sold it and bought a new one. No change in accuracy potential. I mean my Maks shoot infinitely better, no real comparison. Do you guys find that to be true for yours, or I am doing something wrong ?

Because for $90 you can buy an unissued (or re-arsenaled) reliable, accurate handgun that has this kind of power with standard 85g fmj S&B ammo:
Muzzle Velocity: 1647 fps
Muzzle Energy: 514 ft. lbs.
And you can get specialty ammo from Reed's that produces the following:
1. 1900FPS at the muzzle and 681 Ft-Lbs of energy (7.62x25 85g Hornady XTP-HP); and
2. 2200FPS at the muzzle and 644 Ft-Lbs of energy (7.62x25 60g Hornady XTP-HP).
For comparison, Hornady's custom 10mm ammo produces:
Muzzle velocity: 1180 fps
Muzzle energy: 556 ft/lb
and their custom .357 sig ammo produces:
Muzzle velocity: 1350 fps
Muzzle energy: 502 ft/lb
To get a decent 10mm or .357 sig handgun you'd have to spend several times what a cz-52 costs. There are numerous aftermarket outlets for replacement parts, and free manuals and guides are available. This is truly a great buy in a powerful handgun. The makarov is also a great buy in a great gun, but its essentially a concealed carry piece in ".380+p". The CZ-52 is a different type of gun altogether. Hope this helps.
