I have no choice but to store my powder, ammo, and some guns in a locking steel cabinet in my basement. Has worked out good so far until a few weeks ago when I got some moisture in there. My guns had lots of surface rust on them and water was sitting on the bottom of the cabinet. I had a silicon box in there but it was saturated. I cleaned it all up and dryed out the silicon box. I do have a dehumdifier in the basement and turned it up more. I emptied it weekly this summer. My plan is to put a goldenrod in the cabinet. Is that safe considering I am storing powder for reloading? No black powder, though. Any advice for this?

Why the basement? You can't stick it in your room, or somewhere else?

I am married. Don't want to go there. Let's just say that this is my only option.
Using CLP to protect your guns will stop the surface rust problems. I store all my ammo in GI 50cal and 30cal ammo cans. They are metal and have a rubber gasket on the lid.
Excessive heat is what really hurts powder but getting it wet will screw it up to. Depending on how much powder you have a plastic ice chest would keep it dry as the Rubbermaid ice chest I have seals pretty tight.

I installed a goldenrod last night and will keep a closer eye on the contents to see if the moisture continues to be a problem. Thanks for all your replies.
