I am getting intrested in a Mauser Broomhandle that i can get from a friend.. Its a shooter grade and not a collectable ....
Its in 7.62x25 and the barrel is in great shape and all number match, the bluing is worn and the grips are intact...
The guy wants $800.00 for it and will sell a sholder stock case that does not match the serial number for another $200.00

These are unique pistols and the craftsmanship in them are fantastic...
I just may get it and have it profesionaly refinished and have another unique pistol

C-96's normally come in 7.63x25mm.or 9x19mm. 7.63x25mm was the basis for the 7.62x25mm round-they are however different. Owned several 7.63x25mm C-96's in the past-always used the correct 7.63x25mm in them-NOT 7.62x25mm. Not saying you can't do it-you can-there is just enough difference between rounds-if it were my pistol I wouldn't. $800. for it-wow should have held on to mine-didn't pay that much total for all 3 that I had.

What GP said about firing 7.62x25 in a 7.63x25 chamber. The cases are so close in dimensions that it is possible to chamber either round, but the 7.62x25 (Tokarev) tends to be loaded hotter than the 7.63 Mauser, and it is not recommended to fire the Tok ammo in the older Mauser broomhandle handguns. You can take 7.62x25 BRASS and reload it for use in the 7.63 Mauser-chambered guns, just use data published for the 7.63 Mauser.

The C96 Broomhandle is definitely a way cool handgun. I fired a 9mm example once, belonged to a friend in WV. Put about 25 - 30 rounds through it and chased pop cans at 25 meters.

Might be wise to get(if you haven't already) several of the manuals on the C-96. Most give good detailed assembly/disassembly procedures-the C-96 is a superb-yet complex pistol-and can sometimes be a handfull for a novice. "Gunparts" in NY usually carries a full host of C-96 parts and accessories-strippers are a must.
