I havnt shot it but I held one at my local shop yesturday. They are bad ass. It is the only gun I like that has a fold down front sight. It very beefy and sturdy unlike most match fold down sights. I will buy one if the AWB expires because I am not gonna fork out $2,355 for a weapon ment to take 28 round mags but onyly comes with a 5 and a 10 rounder.

The Barret is a nice unit....but ungodly expensive. I personally am not a fan of the ARMS SIR forend either. Have you seen PRI's new 6.8 uppers?

I've read a couple articles and heard lots of discussion, but haven't really seen much in terms of retail prices. Anybody care to break my heart and tell me about how much their gouging for them? I'm sure the "Barrett" name has to be worth quite a bit itself.

I've heard great things about the external and terminal ballistics of the round.

5-10 rounders are definitely a drag. I thought you could use modified M26 mags?

Any links to uppers/rifles and ammo (w/ prices) would be appreciated--and later agonized over.

I hate ARMS. For the price you pay for the damn thing, you should not have to fork out more dough to buy full length side rails. Plus their ugly as sin. Give me KNIGHTS any day!

Retail for the whole gun is $2,535. Price at Impact Guns is $2,355. Upper converstion retail is $1,494, so actual price on conversion is probably around $1,250 give or take a few bucks.

I am debating on whether start modifying another AR or waiting to see if the ban sunsets and get a M468 with like 14 mags.

For the prices they're asking, there'd better be some gold somewhere on this thing. Sheeesh! I bet the ammo's pricy too. Still, it would be cool.

Ammo is currently at $13.50 for 20 rounds. I have decided to stick to 5.56 since I got all this gear, plus I want HK's gas system more than a bigger bullet. Its a waste of money really for civies unless you take your AR moose hunting. I got such a bad ass setup anyway that I dont need or want another upper.

I could actually use it down here for hunting. VA doesn't allow .22 centerfires for deer or big game.
Still, I'll wait to see if the military adopts it. If it becomes standard issue and the brass becomes more common, I'd definitely get a Model 1 upper.

As of now, no branch of the military plans to make the M468 stantard issue. THe only ones that MAY ( I say that cuz the Brass dosent want to change to another round) it are Special Forces, Rangers, SEALs, Force Recon, and a few other high priority groups. The GI's will either have a couple for sniper/ long range weapons in each company if they dont re-issue the M14 as planed.

Another trend I reckon I'll have to stay away from for a while. 13.50/box isn't TOOOO bad, considering what I pay to feed my Rem 700 PSS, but then again, we're talking a semi-auto carbine here too... Yeah, .223 is adequate for CQB/home defense (God-forbid a case ever goes to court where a joe defended Suzie and the young'ens with an AR carbine of ANY configuration, but it's more than up to the job), small game, targets, competition, and the other garden-variety, tough-guy shooting I love so. Oh well. I guess I won't be the coolest kid on the block anymore :( ... Then again, I probably wasn't anyway. ;)

Piss on it.

Hell, instead of forking out $2300 for a new gun, take your 700P and get an McMillan A4 stock and throat pollishing and stuff and make it a true counter sniper weapon.

Heres a good list of what alot of people want for their 700P, minus the bad ass stock:

Epinephrine,

Thanks for the link. She's pretty accurate as-is. I've shot a pretty wide variety of loads/brands and so far only the real heavy crap is MOA+. The rest--including (gasp, sigh) milsurp ball--are MOA-sub MOA. I've got the base model Leupold tactical scope on it and with the base and rings I have (standards), she's good for first shot hits on torso sized targets out to 600 yards.

Well, I guess I got a little off topic. Sorry. Yeah, 2300 is too much for me right now. I could get 'er accurized AND buy a crapload of match ammo for that.

Or if you wanted, you could buy this:
http://www.impactguns.com/store/zm_lr300srf_package.html

You would be like the most cool Ar owner here. No one that I know of owns one, plus since it has the buffer relocated over the barrel, you can have folding stocks, at least, when the ban dies!:D :D

i thought one of the advantages of the 6.8SPC was it costs less than 5.56?! i mean, ammoman sells federal match king 80 grain for less than that.
