Seems like they made an awsome survival type knife years ago. Anyone have or seen one lately?

I've had three EZ-Out knives (pre-ATS-34). I bought them because I got tired of snapping the plastic pocket clips on Spyderco knives. Then I snapped the metal pocket clip on my first EZ-Out. I still have the other two, as they were great knives for the price.

azreloader I haven't seen one since mine disapeared  LOVED that knife. Grip is perfect and even wet it isn't slippery.

I need to find the black blade one to replace it :(

Heres mine, most battle proven piece of equipment I own, from the toilet known as JRTC in Ft Polk, LA; to the wonderful land of non-bathing europeans in Bosnia-Herzegovina; to the bigger and hotter toilet/sandbox of Iraq, this tool has ventured everywhere and done just about everything besides wipe my ass for me. Its also the only thing made by Gerber than I can afford.

I always thought the grips were too fat on those knives. I like the blade shape, but I prefer a smaller grip.

As a kid, I always wanted a MkI or MkII. But about the time I could afford one, I fell in love with Bowie type blades. Now I wish I would have bought one b/c now I don't believe Gerber makes either the MkI or MkII anymore.

AK103K,

Those look interesting. What are the grips made of?

The MKII has its original finish on the grip. The MKI and Guardian both were used hard and the original finishes wore off long ago. I blasted the original finishes off and took a diesel injector to the grips and sort of stippled them and then used Brownell's Aluma Hyde II on them. I also parkerized the MKI's blade. So far, the Aluma Hyde is holding up well, although the knives dont get the use they once did.

I just own a couple of International AR 3.0, that I'm going to have to give away, Arthiritis and the small stud make them 2-handed openers for me. Other than that I liked them a lot.

A Magnum LST is always in my hunting fanny pack, ever since my brother[ion-law gave it to me several Christmases ago. Good knife. Real good friend has a Gator drop point folder in ATS-34 that is the only knife he ever carries. He swears by it!

Always wanted a B.M.F. but by the time I got serious, they were gone.

Still prefer the Wave for a multitool though, with supertooll and Victorinix tied for second. SOG Para-tool would be right up there if it didn't fold over every time I really needed it.

Gerber makes real good stuff, IMO.

i keep thinking i need to take a hard look at the Applegate models, the Colonel used to be real down on folders. I figure if he let them put his name on one, it must be special.

I paid $40.00 for mine-full size brand new. I love it. I plan on getting one of the smaller ones from Smoky Mountain.

These are my two GERBER old schooler's.
BMF and PARABELLUM
I picked the BMF up about 12 years ago at a flea market for $60. Someone had taken a bad sharpening job to the blade. You can only see a hint of the damage in the pics. It was a shame it wasnt NIB. I bought the PARABELLUM while I was still in high school.
I also own Gerber camp hatchet, Chameleon, & gator fixed guthook hunter. Also owned Gerber multi tool that was later stolen :(
