was just sold on e-bay for $92.55. It was a Blackjack model 1-7, which is a very good copy of Randall's model 1-7 all-purpose fighter.:(
Naturally, I came across it while broke.

I know how you feel, I'm always a day late and a dollar short. :(
Any who, do you have a pic of the knife?

Thanks HDR! How did you ever come up with it. I ask b/c I can never find what I want to look at on the net. And yet you popped a pic right on up!:)
It was the leather handled one at the top, BJ-1711, Optimus.
Blackjack made an excellent, and substantially cheaper (in price) copy of Randall's 1-7. Somewhere, I heard that one of Blackjack's partners absconded with the companies funds, placing them in bankruptcy.:(
Recently, Bark River Knives acquired some of Blackjack's model 1-7 blades and completed them as thier own production knives. They're still out there, but they want around $175 for the leather handled ones new. Again, out of my price range at this time.
Thank goodness for Ka-Bar!

Holy moly! I was scanning down on the link provided and they showed a BJ 1-7 made with Effingham steel! That's what the knife on e-bay had! It went for $92.55, and the one on the link says that they are currently valued at $200!!
Damn, I need to learn a little bit more about knives.

That's insane!
The only knife I'd ever spend big bucks on would be a custom Randall ordered straight from the shop, and I've been told the wait would be two-three years after ordering.
How much is a Strider folder worth? Please tell me it's not $550!

Strider Model SMF w/ MCSOCOM markings (Marine Corps Special Operations Command). The SMF is their issue knife under current DOD contract.
They have other knives that run $750.00.....

 Unbelieveable prices!
I think I'll keep the Randall as my dream knife, and the Ka-Bar as my down to earth reality blade.

Cold Steel makes a pair of Randall-style knives as well. I had a pair of Blackjack knives once. The first was their 'Panga' machete. I hated that thing. The edge geometry was far too thin, and the edge would actually roll over on itself if I cut anything other than green grass with it. I also had one of their fighting knives (I forget the model), and I loved it. That is, until someone busted into my car and took my tool box :(

LHS,
Thanks for the headsup. I checked them out, unfortunately thier military classic is made of stainless, while I prefer carbon blades.

Rage,
Its how you write the search..
Or I think weird, sort of similar to a machine..
Rage, check out the ODA (http://www.ltspecpro.com/38dac.html), CS's economy version. It's got a Kraton handle and blackened Carbon V blade. It's not nearly as pretty as the real Randall No. 1, but it's serviceable and has a carbon-steel blade.

Thanks for the link, LHS.
I'll keep it in mind, and when I come into some money I'll seriously consider it.

Rage, hang on to your Ka-bar. If you happen to loose it, ya won't have to sell one of the kids to get another.;)
