The AR47 is an AR15-type rifle that has had the lower receiver modified to accept AK47 mags...it is 7.62*39 caliber.

Several questions:

First, accuracy--is it comparable to the AR or the AK (3" group @ 100 yards, or 6" group?)

Second, will it take a 75 round drum (Chinese or Euro)

Third, what is involved in getting this rifle? (Links, etc)

TIA

This product is a great idea, but I will probably always just only want one.

Because the ak mag is wider and extends further into the firearm modifications must be made to the upper and bolt carrier.

In addition ar-15 bolts chambered in 7.62*39 appear to have a short life.

Todd at Special Weapons has established for himself quite a reputation. I would by his products before I purchased one from Robert Hesse at Vulcan, but I don't think this will be soon.

Knights designed a receiver simular, not the same, in which the AK mags locked into the gun lower and at an angle. It would have been much more expensive. It has never been offered for sale.

Could you direct me to where you heard about the bolt life?

Yeah, there are mods done to the upper and the BCG...but that'd be OK with me if it works decently.

7.62x39 bolts have had a few failures in the past but it is because they are essentially .223 bolts enlarged to handle the 7.62 case. If you ever do have a failure, it will be after thousands of rounds. Bolts are cheap so not a big issue IMHO. I have an AR47, around 250rds through it so far without any problems.

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask & I'll do my best to help you out.

An interesting rifle for sure. Too bad they didn't manufacture them for us civilians as I definitely would have bought one. Same story for the Robinson Arms RAV02. Neither will ever see civilian production so the AR47 is as good as you're going to get.
