A friiend of mine bought an old bayonet today. It is about 16 inches long, single edged. It has "CSZ" stamped into the blade and the sheath. The handle is wooden and the sheath is all metal with a hook on the back so it can be hooked over your belt. Anyone have any info on this?

Czechoslovakian bayonet. It is virtually certain it will be one of the following:

If the blade is 16 inches long, it fits the VZ24 short rifle, generally available from surplus dealers.

If the overall length is 16 inches, it is the shorter version, to fit the VZ98/22 long Mauser. This was an updated version of the Gewehr 98 WWI German battle rifle.

The hook on the scabbard serves the same purpos as the "button" on other scabbards, to lock into a leather frog.

Interesting aspect about these bayonets. Notice that the sharp edge of the blade is on the upper side of the bayonet when mounted, the opposite of convention!
