what's the availability and price of a case of q3131a in your area? i was at two shows within the last three weeks and i'm not seeing it around (dfw area)? the grumbling of the vendors is that its going "over there".

I can't find any near me. I'm hoping to find some at a big upcoming gun show in 3 weeks. Online vendors are running low. And I saw some Federal XM193 at a local shop going for almost $6 for a box of 20!! I heard one guy say that it's because of the war, that the majority of ammo is going up there. He could be right to a point.

The talk about XM193 not being available due to the war is bullshit. I think most of the dealers are either not stocking it because their profit margins aren't high enough or they're hoarding it to try and gouge in the event of a genuine shortage. Both are still out there, just a bit more expensive. Ammoman.com has XM193 for $199/1000 and Q3131A for the same price, shipping included in both. Ammoman.com is a great source, fantastic customer service and prompt shipping.
I used to prefer to buy from vendors at shows over the internet, but got tired of the higher prices and no selection between brands (I actually had one tell me that the only 9mm and .40 FMJ he stocked was Winchester, couldn't afford to stock anything else). Now I've been buying almost entirely from the internet and most of that from Ammoman.com.
P.S. I'm not affiliated with ammoman. Look on the forums, most of the word of mouth is positive on him.

XM193 is 4$ a box here... I also have a guy local who stocks Q3131A for 4$ a box too...
But I think the War thing is bullshit too... but it might not be
because if you think of the Lot # Dates being released.. when I first started getting XM193.. it was made in '01, and '02.. .. now gradually the stock is beginning to "dry up" as they say.. and its hitting the '03 Date on ammo... well.. didn't the War begin in '03?..... I donno.. just an observation I made..

JE,
I agree that the war is having some impact on ammo availability and pricing. I just think that many dealers are trying to take advantage. I bought 1000 rds of XM193 (2002 hs, lot 60) about 3 weeks ago for $199. The $4.00/box you're getting is a really good price, I wish I could find that locally (SE Michigan).

I goto Bass Pro and stock up on it when I dont have any cases of it. Only $3.50 a box.
The crap about Iraq causing ammo shortages is BS. The military no longer uses M193. The only war that can effect the Q3131A is the war in Isreal where they make it and use it.
