Like many of you. When (and if) the AWB goes away I want swap out the standard stock on my Bushmaster shorty for a telestock. How hard is this and what tools will I need ? I did a search but came up empty.

YOu will need a half inch screw driver and alot of muscle. I tried removing my standard A2 for a VLTOR A2 and couldnt get the screw out even with my 1/2 inch driver. Called Bushy and they said they use some kind of rubber tread lock (not Loc-Tite) to hold the screw in. I took a soldering iron to it to warm it up them tried removing the screw again. I striped the screw out! The only way I go it off was removing the buffer and spring, and took a hack saw to it. Since I bought the complete stock kit it came with a new buffer tube. That is the only way you are going to get it off. Since your getting a telly, dont worry about saving the tube. Good luck!;)

not hard at all to do the swap ONCE you get the tube off :)

not sure if what Epi was saying is flat out common, but could really be a pain come the day you have your plastic wrapped tele stock sitting on the bed and you want that bastard A2 stock off the rifle.....

now.. since you'll hardly ever find any GOOD instructions how to put on a tele-stock i'll go step by step..

Now all this worked for my fixed tele-stock, and I know all this works except for the last step. Not sure how a real tele-stock locks onto the buffer.. depending which side it can slide into.. whether it be from the rear or the front of the tube... alter my directions accordingly so you can actually get the Stock onto the buffer tube, after the tube has been installed on the rifle :)

Step 1 - Old stock off

Step 2 - Take the new buffer tube and screw the nut onto the threads till it hits the end of the threads on the tube. Take the metal plate which will fit flush to the reciever once everything is all tightened up and slide it onto the buffer tube with the bulged end facing towards the reciever. This will fit into the hole on the reciever and keep the stock from twisting too far.

Step 3 - Stick the rear takedown detent and spring back into the hole.

Step 4 - Screw the buffer tube onto the rifle, while holding the metal plate against the nut you screwed on. Keep screwing till the buffer catch peince needs to be pushed down. Push it down then screw it in a few times.. If it cant be screwed in anymore and the tube assembly doesn't look like it should... example.. its canted.. then unscrew enough to where it is positioned right.

Step 5 - Slide the plate foreward being careful about the spring. TIP :: if your rear takedown detent is really really tight and takes a screwdriver to knock it out, you can cut a few coils off this spring and it will make the takedown pin easier to push out. Just dont cut too much. //TIP Lock the plate with the bulged side facing the reciever, and push it so the bulge fits into the hole.

Step 6 - Screw the nut foreward so it eventually hits the plate. Take a CAR Spanner Wrench, the only tool you'll need, and tighten the buffer tube nut till its nice and tight, and not going anywhere. Be sure to hold the tube in place to keep it from canting.

Step 7 - Slide on the tele stock and click it into place :), then insert the buffer spring and buffer into the tube... lock the upper reciever back on, and voila..

Step 1 - Old stock off Voila..

I doubt a real author would use a bullshit sentence and mediocre french to write a gunsmithing manual lol...:D
