I have about 350 rounds of .308. No rifle to shoot them in. Sell the ammo???? NO WAY!!! :D
I was really looking hard at the M1A, but I've been reading some "not-too-good" things about them recently. Then there's the FALS, G3s, and other rifles over on the 7.62 MBR forum. Only seen them in pictures. :( Today I ran across an old Armalite catalog. The AR-10 looks....interesting. I have a Colt AR-15 and really like it. Maybe get the .223 a big brother?????
Anyway....other than the obvious price difference, any other reason to lean toward one .308 rifle over the others???????

The AR10 is a good choice since you are familiar with the AR15.
Some people will say xxxx rifle is the best one and won't budge on their opinion.
I have one of each you listed (at least one :D ) and they are all fun to shoot. It depends on what you will use it for. If you plan on a scope then the AR10 in a flat top is the way to go.
For iron sights I like the M1a and also the controls on it fit me since I am left handed.
The G3 will shoot almost any ammo I feed it (with the exception of cavim) and is accurate for a battle rifle but the ergos flat out suck.
The FAL has better ergos but the sights are kinda lame and a few other things that don't make it a favorite.
There have been some AR10's that haven't been 100% reliable but that can be said for almost any firearm. I have had a 2 carbine uppers and a 10T upper for my AR10. The 10T and the A2 carbine upper have been flawless but the 10T carbine upper was a lot of problems.
The only thing I can say is try to play with as many different ones as you can and see which one you like the best that fits your needs.
Magazines are also something to consider. WHith the sunset of the AWB holefully they will be cheaper to obtain but at the moment 20 round AR10 mags cost a bit more than the others.
But it can be used in either the 10 or a M1a so that kinda helps out with the cost if you get either at a later date.

'preciate the info.
Right now, my shooting is only at paper. :D That may change down the road, but I've got other rifles for hunting.
Thanks again. :)

I would look into the eagle arms line of AR10s.
Cheaper than the Armalites (but just as good other than the lifetime warrenty) but seem to be just as accurate and if you get the flat top model with a good scope you won't be dissapointed.

I'm looking at a Bushmaster BAR-10 A3. The few reviews on it look good and it uses FAL mags. A little pricey at about $1550 a pop but you tend to get what you pay for. My 0.02 worth.

Here is another vote for the AR10. I have some and they
have worked 100% You can go with the Eagle and save a few
bucks. They come out of the same plant, just different name on them. Get a flat top. You can get 20 rd. mags on the EE at ar15.com for around 55.00 or get some conversion kits from
Armalite and you can end up with them around 30.00 ea.
The other guns are pretty new and the word is still out on them.
DPMS--good price and shoots good--no dust cover or brass deflector.
Bushmaster--High for what you are getting--FAl mags--BFD
There are several range reports on the DPMS and the Bushmaster
on the ar15.com AR variants forum and AR10/180 forum

Yeah....I seem to be leaning toward Eagle Arms. Hopefully I'll be gainfully employed soon. My first paycheck goes for a new rifle. :D
