I had built 3 CAR-15 kits from model 1 sales in 1999. Had a decent time with them, had a mangled part in the mail from the box being too thin and they replaced it just fine.

No hassles. So now that I wanted to build a kit around my DPMS M4 .22 upper I decided to go with a company I knew.

I ordered 2 lower parts kits, an ACE long stock and an M-4 stock.

The order arrived after about a week. Upon inspection there are some differences between model 1's kit and J&Ts kit.

1. Model 1 sent mistmatching colored retaining pins for the receiver. 1 black 1 gray. not a big deal but Id like a gun that kinda matches.
2. Model 1 sales M-4 stock is a lesser quality and pales when compared to J&Ts. It seems cut from the same mold but has more flash (excess plastic) and the corners arent as sharp. The plastic is not as black either. Not a huge deal for an AR, but I reccomend J&Ts.

My problem came when I saw the ACE stock. It was the short entry stock, while being charged for the cheaper long stock, it was not what I wanted. I also planned to shoot the rifle in a few days.
I called model 1, asking them to replace the stock, if they could send out the long ACE to fix their mistake today, and when they got the short mistaken stock from me in the mail later in the week they could call it even.

NO, I would have to suck up Their mistake and wait until my stock arrived.
So I pay for shipping once again to mail the short stock to them.

it has been 1.5-2 weeks so I called them to see if they had shipped out the stock for my rifle, sitting here........doing nothing.

Upon calling they said nothing arrived. I asked them to check again, there is no way priority 3day mail takes almost 2 weeks. To which the guy reluctantly (and I do mean so) checked.
At this point I asked if he was sure. He replied laughlingly that mail takes a long time. Still offering no help, no words of confidence or any "hey, what I CAN do for you is............"

Nothing........just laughter on the fact that I seem out of luck with a rifle with no stock due to their mess up.

So today, I still sit here............... without a stock that I paid for, and postage, both ways so far. Wondering if my mail will ever 'arrive' there.

I spend a lot on guns and customer service is huge on my list. Even if their office is on a remote island miles away from a post office, it'd be nice to treat me a little better.

I have not bought Rock River yet, but will try them in a month or two, I am building a lot of ARs for freinds getting receivers. But so far J&T is on my good list.

Got a link for J & T? I'm about to get an M4 kit, and want to shop and compare...will keep your experience in mind, as I just got done with a customer service SNAFU with another company...this kind of thing is really frustrating.

Only way to deal with it (if the company doesn't listen) is to go elsewhere.
