I am considering building an AR and I have my eyes on an upper and lower receiver, and I wanted to get some opinions or expierences from some of the greatest gun builders I know of. The members of gunsnet forums of course! The upper is a complete kit from a company called Model 1 sales, and the lower is a stripped receiver by Grizzly from JoeKen . Does anyone have any experience with either the companys or products listed above. Model 1 sales claims that all you need with one of their kits is a stripped lower receiver and that is what JoeKen is advertising. Thanks for the info!

I dont have any experience with either products.. I went with a J&T kit with a rock river arms lower reciever... building your AR15 is by far one of the coolest things to do.. for choosing this route... as for those two companies.. i have no idea.. but for the two I went with .. two thumbs up!

Welcome to the group, charcoalburner !!!
I used a Model 1 kit on a Rock River lower and everything came out nice. It's too new and hasn't been to the range yet, but is a nice rifle. I also used a J&T upper on a complete Rock River lower, and after several thousand rounds, I am thrilled with it.
The Model 1 is a pencil barrel, light weight everything including a skeleton stock, with a duckbill pistol grip. Can't wait to take it out.
The J&T is a heavy barrel, fully fluted, with fake flash hider, on a RR tactical entry lower. Overall length of this guy is under 30 inches. I have a laser with switch on a forward pistol grip zeroed at 15 feet. Can you say "home protection device"? :D
I have had good luck with both Model 1 and J&T. Have no idea about the lower you describe, I prefer Rock River, but that is my 2 cents.
Good luck with your build!! There aren't many better feelings with a firearm than the first time you pull the trigger on something that you yourself built!

Model 1 and Joeken are good companies. I have never heard of a Grizzly lower but If JoeKen carries it it should be of good quality.
Oh, and :welcome:

the LAR Grizzly is the same quality as the bushmaster recievers at a better price.

coalburner, I'm going to go with this combo later this year. I might buy a couple of the Grizzly lowers at the price they are offered...
