Finally after a long time in the safe, I took my M17S to the range. I made a few mods to it to smooth the trigger out a ton, and ventilated the receiver. I have to say that I was pretty pleased with it.

I ran about 40 rounds of cheap Russian ammo through it, with no problems, but after having trouble with my Robinson M96 and lacquer coated ammo, I changed over to my favorite Sellier & Bellot, and continued until a combination of lots-o-rounds, and a hot sun made the whole rifle too hot to handle. It wasn't just the M17S that got too hot, every rifle my daughter and I brought today got too hot thanks to a beautifully sunny day. Sun on black rifles = HOT!!! Yes there are reports that M17S' overheat, but on cloudy days, mine stays manageable.
As for accuracy, on the 50 yard range, I had no problem taking the center out of the target. I only put the S&B on paper. Great stuff! Fun rifle!
