I have a Bushmaster XM-15 carbine and was considering putting a Vltor rifle modstock on it (clubfoot version). The rifle is post-ban with the standard carbine stock pinned onto a 4-position tube. Will the Vltor rifle stock fit on this tube or should I get a rifle tube for the Vltor stock to fit good?

I just purchased one online last night, you'll need a mil spec tube.

This is where I'd purchased mine from,Michael seem like a good person to do business with.
Mine, will be shipped out today, needless to say, Im really looking forward to installing it on my Bushy M4 clone.
Already have my Phantom ready.

I'm new to the AR series of rifles and know little about how the Bushmaster XM-15 compares with military specs. Is the 4 position buffer tube that comes from the factory not to mil specs? The collapsible stock that's on it now fits rather loose when not pinned but I wasn't sure if that was by design or if the tube is smaller than normal or Bushmaster's stock is oversized because it is "post-ban".

The tube on the Bushy is a full length tube, with a full length buffer. This makes it look like a carbine stock, but it's basically not. Plus, there are no indentions for the VLTOR to stop in each position.
You will need to either purchase their tube, or one that you've purchased seperately. Do not forget you'll need the carbine spring and buffer as well, since yours are full length.
The total of all this will be between $150-$180. ;)

Bushmaster,RRA and many other post ban rifles, doesnt have true mil spec Dia tubes, that why their loose.
By installing a mil spec tube, you'll also have a true quality fit and function of any quality made stock.
The tube I'd purchased last night, is a five position tube.
Hope that helps. ;)

The tubes that normally come with Vltor, are for Colts.
Here a helpful link to owners of various AR/M16 stocks.

Unless I miss understood, thats what I've gathered from dealer and consumers.

It's COLT that isn't milspec FYI.
Colt uses oversized this and that, non mil-spec lower receivers and non mil-spec front receiver pins, etc.
Yes, Colt buffer tubes are slightly oversized, but that's so they are NOT milspec. They started these changes a long time ago so that anti-gun folks could not say that the AR15 is basically just a semi-auto M16. All the other makers did not follow suit however. ;)
VLTOR takes advantage of the Colt oversized buffer tubes to make their products stay within a single standard - Colt's standard.
Just an FYI...

So basically to answer this guy question reguarding tubes size, seem like the bushmaster tube and vltor stock will rattle?

Why dont you just wait another 2 weeks so it doesnt have to be a gay pinned stock?.. then you can have the real thing.

Thanks for the info guys. That's just what I needed to know. Sounds like I need to start saving my pennies for another tube:up:
