Anybody picked up one of these new offers? Forged uppers and lowers. Looks to be a fine weapon.

I got mine for $499 from FAC, the total with shipping and transfer came out to $530 which is very good price for an AR, especially now that it comes with forged recievers instead of cast. In my opinion, unless your going to build an AR. This would be your best bet as far as quality and price is concerned. The plinker is to the AR-15's as the Romanian SAR-1 is to the AK-47's. And I love my SAR-1! And with a little work both can be made "top notch" like some of the more expensive models.

Olympics website is not functioning for me at least. I am glad they are going to the better receiver. I have a Plinker, my daughter was shooting it one day, and started complaining that she was having trouble keeping it on paper at 50 yards. Then she stands up and holding the front half of the rifle in one hand and the rear in the other, announced "dad I think I have a problem". The upper broke right behind where the barrel nut threaded on. Luckily the design of the AR kept it from exploding in her hands. Oly was very good about repairing it, but the new upper hangs in my safe, and the lower has a Model1 upper on it. Glad they are ditching the cast receivers.

I picked one up about a month ago, it shoots great. It has the collapsible stock and 16" A2 upper. I shoot with a friend who bougt a RRA tactical entry at the same time he paid $300 more and mine shoots more accuately and has never had a FTF or any other stopage. I am very happy with it.

If you bought an Oly with a collapsible stock and A2 upper, it isn't a Plinker, which is a model name. The Plinker came with an A1 upper and fixed stock, unless someone upgraded it to an A2 upper, in which case the soft receiver would not be an issue.

I bought 2 of mine as kits from J&S gunparts.. and I love them both. I also have DPMS and Bushmaster. I found Oly to be the best bang for the buck.
