This whopper has eluded me all summer long. Last time I got near him four dogs that some stupid neighbor let run loose scared him off into his hole. Time before that I only had my CCW pistol with me and it wasn't accurate enough at that range. I've never been armed when he decided to come out to play as he was in a very busy environment with lots of traffic to make him skittish. I tried and almost gave up on him yesterday, but he walked out just as I was about to pack it in. I got him with my eotech equipped AR carbine and some softpoint ammo. The softpoints aren't much on expansion as you can see the exit wound in the pic and it isn't much to write home about. Straight through and through, but the placement was perfect and he just laid right over and died where he stood. I put the dot on him and gently squeezed until I got him. It was a very good end to a very very bad day. Cheered me up a little considering how pissed I already was.

The 30 or so squirrels i shot this summer with my .22lr seemed to die just fine. One hollow point to the head and they flop around for about 4 minutes.. hehehe :D

key words "low velocity" meaning the bullet is traveling at like.. 500fps . if that.. i have a pellot gun that can shoot damn near 800 fps... I just like the feel of a rifle over a pellot gun

MMMMMM, Groundhog. Good eatin. No kidding. I trap 'em and eat them or use 'em for coyote/bobcat bait. They're a lot of fun to shoot too.

The little bastard was destroying your garden? Or what?

He was in the spot where my garden normally is, but now it's dormant this season. When it comes to groundhogs, I hunt them because I enjoy it and not just if they pose a problem to me personally. I hunt them for my neighbors and my family members who farm also. I view them much like cats view mice, but I don't eat them. I am simply ridding the world of a pest when I hunt them. Nothing more and nothing less.
