Little word of warning. I made a floor plate and follower for my mags so that I could use the original saiga hammer instead of cutting up my fse hammer. when I went shooting I found out in a very bad way that this is a very bad idea to have an FSE trigger and disconnector, and a saiga hammer. It fires when you pull the trigger, AND WHEN YOU RELEASE IT. 2 shots, 1 pull, not a good thing. It was not that the hammer simply followed the bolt forward after firing, it would stay back until you released the trigger, then would fall for the second time. If anyone has done the same method I used and have not shot it yet, do not shoot it. Just cut off the nub on the new hammer so that it will fit.
Probably a good thing that I replaced it, cause the floor plate I made from sheet metal needed alot more work to have it feed perfectly every time anyway

Thanks for the info. I still haven't trimmed my Tapco hammer and I have the Saiga hammer installed. Seems to work just fine, but I haven't tried shooting it yet. I'll test it out or maybe I'll just trim the Tapco hammer and install it.

It fires when you pull the trigger, AND WHEN YOU RELEASE IT. 2 shots,
When cycling the weapon unloaded, you pull the trigger and the hammer falls, right? If you keep the trigger pulled and then release it, it fires again? Is your trigger hook not catching the hammer as it passes from the disonnector to the trigger hook? Weird.

This is exactly what is happening. I took it apart out in the field and hand cycled it and watched it do this. I didn't notice it when I did my conversion, but Took notice real quick when I fired it.
What did you use for a shepards hook on your conversion, since there is no post in front of the hammer pin?
I ended up trimming down the kind that tapco has and fitting it in. I believe it is the buly type.

I just tried cycling my Saiga 12 w/ the Saiga hammer and Tapco FCG and it did not fire twice, I can't think what would be different using real ammo.
With gun cocked I pull the trigger and the hammer falls. While still pulling the trigger, I rack the bolt, cocking the hammer again and being held by the disconnector. I release the trigger and the hammer is caught by the hook of the trigger and the gun is back where it started. It sounds like your trigger hook is not catching the hammer when it passes from the disconnector for some reason. Try what I just did and see what it does (if it doesn't catch the hammer when releasing the trigger).
I used a modified Red Star Arms shepard's crook replacement. Mine seems to be working fine.

It may have just been the FSE trigger group with the saiga hammer. It barely missed being cought on the disconnector. I already cut down the FSE hammer and put it in. It is Working perfect now. Man, it was a bitch to get the shepards hook in on the saiga.
It only takes me a few seconds on a regular ak, but it was a bitch on the 12 gauge. I will probably end up getting a rsa plate for mine as well, to aid in future take down and reinstalls. How did you modify yours?

I haven't taken pics of my RSA plate yet, but I hate to grind a lot off of it. It is hard to get it under the left rail to put the safety through it, you will see what I mean when you get yours. I grinded a ton off of it until it fit.

That makes sense, Everything seemed to need a sight mod to work in thew 12 gauge.
