I been looking at the FM Hi powers that SARCO has been advertising and have been pondering on buying one. I was wanting to know if anyone here has had any experince with them and if they are worth the $$$ to have as a plinker ???

Some folks say theirs are fine, others reported problems form what I've read. If you can ask them, try to get an idea of just what they are offering. SOG has offered:
Refinished Belgian FN HPs
Refinished Argentine FM HPs
"New" Argentine FM HPs
The new FM 95 is a dog; lousy fit and finish. The earlier FMs were decent, and the refinished Belgians were also nice.
An alternative is the Charles Daly HP, most parts made by FEG in Hungary and imported by KBI in Harrisburg, PA and assembled here in the US. CD is a brand name owned by KBI, and although the CD 1911s (made in the Phillipines) are doggy, the CD Hi-Power is excellent. A friend bought one and we shot several boxes of ammo through it about a month ago. Sweet. Has me thinking about one, despite having a few FEGs. Price is around that what SOG wants for the refurbed Argies, maybe a tad more. But for that $$$ you get a new gun.

Noah correct-SOG has had a wide variety of Hi Powers for sale lately.I've owned/shot/carried FM Hi Powers for over 20+ years, last year I picked up one of thier refinished FM Hi Powers. My pistol was an early 1969 military contract "65" pattern Hi Power (FM began licenced production from FN in 1969) It required a bit of work to get her going-I replaced the firing pin spring-it had been cut-throated and polished barrel, "unfroze extractor" it had been reparkarized assembled in weapon-replaced the replacement FM slide stop (a redesigned part for FM's later M90/M95 series of Hi Power mods) with an origional style slide stop, and dropped out the nasty mag disconnect. Once that was done she has gone over 1000 rounds NO JAMS-any mag any brand of 9mm I try. For $300. shes a great "plinker" with a history. Photo shows the FM at left-on right is SOGs "other" Hi Power the Indian MK1Ahttp://www.gunsnet.net/album/data//500/25135PA080001-med.JPG Hey TOTO this doesn't look like the C&R handgun section anymore...
