A number of years ago a friend and I built up a CAR-15....one of the problems we had was with the collapsible stock:
We'd screw it in until the buffer pin was just covered, slide the backplate on, and tighten the locking nut....but after a "few" rounds (say, 50) the locking nut had backed out and of course this caused problems with everything else.
We never did get it on good enough that I'd trust it...yet here I am, trying again to build a CAR-style rifle. (I have yet to get the receiver from a GunBroker source)
I have the wrench this time, but was wondering if I will need some kind of "Lok-tite" (blue, of course!) or does it go on dry, just tighten up good?
TIA!

If you have the wrench you should be able to get it tight enough. If it loosens up put a little "blue" on it.

JE3146 had that happen to his stock. But he recently used my wrench to get her tightened down good, so it should stay put now.

I build a stand that is designed specifically for an AR with a telestock. It holds the gun firm so you can torque down on your castlenut. It also works well for barrel changes and for general cleaning and maintenance.
As for some reason I can't seem to post a picture, or show my email address, you could call me with an email address and I could send you a picture if it is something you might be interested in.

I remember seeing your stuff on here. Looked awesome. Atleast I think it was you. Well, somebody had a thing that fit into the mag well and held your AR there. You cant post pics because you have to be a contributor now to have those features. Kind of a bummer I think for people who arent.

Want to do it the right way?
Tighten the locking nut with the correct wrench, then use a punch and stake the oval alignment plate into the square notches in the nut. 2 or 3 places is more than enough.

It's called a spanner wrench. DPMS, Bushmaster, Olympic and many others sell the tool. Don't get the cheap one, my favorite is the Bushmaster or Smith Enterprises "Extra Heavy-Duty CAR Stock Wrench", which works superbly on the old 'single-hole' lock ring, and still works on the new 'castle nut' lock rings.
