I changed stocks on my AR and the next time I went to the range I noticed my safety lever can flap freely. It will work but you have to hold it up or it will flop down. Did I loose a spring or pin or something? :letssee:

when you remove the stock, in the rear of the reciever there is a little hole where a detent and a detent spring are placed. a detent looks like a little peice of tubular metal with a point on one end. That point goes in the hole first, followed by the spring. the safety selector should be in a position to accept the detent, which will lock into the notches on the safety, causing the clicking action. The stock is then assembled onto the year of the rifle and it holds all the peices in. Odds are you lost the spring.. the detent doesn't normally come out all too often.. might check around and see if you have it.

I put the spring back in so I must have lost the pin or did not get it lined up properly. Thanks for the info it was very helpful. :cupjoe:

Of all people you, JE, should know thats not the safety detent, thats the rear push pin detent! The safety detent is underneath the safety and is accessed by removing the pistol grip. It sounds like his spring has broken somehow or is jammed by grit stuck in the plunger. Figure out whats wrong before you go out the the range again! Good luck!

Actualy I changed all my furniture from black to green when I added all of Feinsteins favorite fetures. After looking at a diagram I realized it was when I changed my grip. You guys got me on the right track. Thanks. :cupjoe:
